Welcome to Kindergarten! I want you to know how pleased I am to have your child in my class. With your help, we can be partners in your child’s education. This is going to be a fabulous school year filled with exciting learning and many special memories.
I encourage you to contact me anytime with questions or concerns you might have. My e-mail address is ssimon@knusd331.com. I will check my e-mail regularly.
Your child will have a daily planner that they will take to and from school everyday. This is a great communication tool for us. Please get in a routine of looking at the planner daily.
I am looking forward to a great year! I consider it a great privilege and responsibility to be your child’s teacher this year and look forward to working closely with you and your child. Thank you in advance for your continued support and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sarah Simon

Class Announcements
Star Student
Every student at random will have a week to be student of the week. During this time they will have special responsibilities and they will have to fill out a poster with special information about themselves to share with their friends!
Show and Tell
Everyday one boy and one girl will have show and tell. I will send a bag home with your child when it is their turn. Please help your child find one item to bring to school that they want to share with their friends. Make sure your child can answer these questions about their show and tell item.
1.What is it?
2.Where did you get it?
3.Why is it special?
*Please do NOT send anything for show and tell that is expensive, irreplaceable, or alive!!
Computers and Library
We are fortunate enough to have five computers in our classroom and a computer lab in our school. We will visit the computer lab once a week for 30 minutes. We use a variety of age-appropriate programs that reinforce math, and reading skills. Children will also work on the computers during center time.
The children go to the library once a week. In the library they will be entertained with a story. The children will have a chance to select a book to borrow for a week.
Birthdays
Birthdays are special occasions for young children. If your child wishes, he/she may bring a store bought treat for the class. If your child has a summer birthday we can arrange a time to celebrate it (on their half birthday or during the last week of school).
